Short description of ALPHA refuse incinerators
Incinerator type The incinerator is a so-called two chamber oven with a main combustion chamber, secondary combustion chamber and modulating industrial burners. The material is incinerated in the main combustion chamber with only a small addition of air to avoid cooling down the combustion chamber. Air is added when the exhaust reaches the secondary combustion chamber for final incineration and is kept at such a level that the gas leaving secondary combustion has an O2 content of 8-10 % and a temperature above 850°C (max 1200°C). This is to ensure that complete combustion has taken place before the gas is channelled (to cooler and duct collector if they are installed) out through the chimney.
Application The incinerator is mainly intended for incineration of hazardous waste and other combustible waste.
The incinerator is adapted to suit customer specification regarding capacity and application.
Function The incinerator is completely process-controlled which means that the incinerator's performance is dependent upon the content of the charge.
Maintenance The incinerator has removable wearing details in the form of base and side plates that can easily be changed when required, normally after approx. 6000 hours. The thermo elements have to be replaced after 2000 hours due to constant change in the outgoing signal (two replacement thermo elements should be kept in stock). The brickwork should be inspected twice a year.
Control system A PC controls the incinerator in such a way that the incinerator always achieves optimal combustion. The screen shows current values, such as set point and actual value for the control parameters. All control parameters have a default value that can be changed (by persons with authorized access.) Access codes are set in a submenu. The applicable submenu can be selected at the bottom of the screen. Any deviation from set threshold values triggers an alarm, which can be viewed in full on the screen when the unit in question is selected. All alarms are printed out showing time, type and duration when the incinerator is shutdown for the day (this function can be turned on or off on demand by the operator).
Option The incinerator can be remote controlled and parameters may be changed. |
